Elon Recap

We traveled to Elon, NC this past Sunday to take on the Phoenix's on their home field. After a long 3 hour drive, the gamecocks were ready to play and came out strong. Cat Traina got us on the board first after effortlessly slipping through Elon's defense and past their goalkeeper to make the game 1-0 before the half. Traina came back in the second half for a similar goal to strengthen our lead. Casey Quirk popped out of the midfield to finish another one for the Gamecocks. With the game at 3-0, the Gamecocks were getting comfortable and possessing the ball well. After countless sideline runs made by outside midfielder Maddy Reed, she turned a powerful cross to the forwards into the Gamecocks 4th and final goal. Our defense and goalkeepers Logan Nelson and Kat Saba kept the Phoenix's off the scoreboard and we ended the game with a score of 4-0. Go Cocks!
