Socctoberfest

Today the Gamecocks competed in three matches, facing Clemson University, College of Charleston and University of Central Florida.

The game against Clemson was a well fought battle. Clemson earned the first goal, making it 1-0. The score remained at that going into the second half. Clemson scored again, giving them a 2-0 lead. Towards the end of the second half, Gamecock Maddy R put one in the back of the net. Battling to tie up the game, the Gamecocks fell short, finishing with a 2-1 loss over Clemson.

In the second game of the day, we were able to receive our first win of the tournament, finishing 5-0 over CofC. The Gamecocks finished the first half 2-0 with goals from Maddy R. and Victoria B. In the second half the Gamecocks stepped it up and finished opportunities they had created. Goals were earned by Natalie D. and two by Sara P.

In the final match of the day, an aggressive and well fought battle against UCF finished in a tie game with a score of 1-1. The first half finished 0-0, making it an intense second half. UCF knight's score first, putting the Gamecocks under pressure. Natalie D. received a PK opportunity after challenging a ball in the box. Natalie put away the PK, making the game 1-1. The final score resulted 1-1, making the Gamecocks finish 1-1-1 for the day. Results for Semi-Final/ Final play will be released later this evening.
